New Year, New Head

.

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2012.  We have an exciting year ahead of us in the UK in spite of the economic climate, with the Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee - both of which will be celebrated by THS (but more of that in later editions of THS Times).

Students have settled back into the school routine after the Christmas break and Years 11, 12 and 13 have been involved in examinations which have run very smoothly.

I am currently taking the opportunity to meet with staff and students and visit lessons, in order to fully acquaint myself with daily life in the school community.

I would like to thank everyone for the very warm welcome that has been extended to me in my first two weeks. I am settling in well and am truly delighted to be here. I look forward to serving this community to the very best of my ability.

Brother and sister Yasmine and Sami Raif were both busy in the run up to Christmas. Sami in Year 8 took part in the Teesside Inter-Club Sports Acro and Tumbling Competition in Middlesbrough and won gold for National Level Tumbling with Acklam Gym Club.

Well done to you both.
